Updates and corrections
We list every release that changes how a tool works out a result, what it shows, or what it saves in your browser. If you spot a wrong result, please email contact@gauritanaya.com with the tool name and the values you entered (use made-up values, not your own health or financial details).
Release 7.5.1 · 17 October 2026
Helper understands far more Kannada and Hindi
- The helper now knows several hundred everyday Kannada and Hindi words, in their own scripts and in English letters, across every section of the site: for example ಸಾಲದ ಬಡ್ಡಿ, ಆರೋಗ್ಯ, ಲೆಕ್ಕ, ಜಾಲತಾಣ, ಪಾವತಿ, ब्याज, किस्त, ब्लड प्रेशर and कुंडली. It understands words with endings added (ಸಾಲ, ಸಾಲದ, ಸಾಲಕ್ಕೆ) and short forms typed with dots (ಜಿ. ಎಸ್. ಟಿ., ಈ. ಎಮ್. ಐ.).
- When it doesn’t understand, it now says so in your language and offers the sections of the site to choose from.
Release 7.5 · 17 October 2026
A helper that answers questions and fixes common problems (on trial)
- New “Need help?” button, being tried out before it is switched on for everyone. Describe what you need in your own words, in English or with Hindi and Kannada words, and it takes you to the right tool, explains the steps on the page you are on, or walks you through fixes when a photo can’t be selected, a file won’t open, a form rejects your upload or a download doesn’t start. If a fix doesn’t work, it tells you how to reach the team.
- The helper runs in your browser and does not use artificial intelligence. What you type into it is not sent anywhere or saved. Privacy policy: new “Site helper” section.
Release 7.4.1 · 17 October 2026
Fixes from an independent release audit
- Homepage stamp now says “Not uploaded, not shared, on device” instead of “not stored”, because some tools do save drafts or logs in your own browser when you choose to.
- Colour converter: when you type a value that isn’t a valid colour, the previous result and its Copy buttons are cleared, so an old colour can’t be copied by mistake.
- Blood pressure log: the CSV now includes your age at each reading (if you entered it) and whether it was under 18, so the exported categories can be understood on their own. Older readings leave these blank.
Release 7.4 · 16 October 2026
Private ratings and feedback
- Every tool page now asks “Did this tool do the job?”. Rate it from 1 to 5 stars and, if you like, tell us what worked or what went wrong. Your rating and message come privately to the Gauritanaya team and are never shown on the site. After a result is ready, a short note invites you to rate the tool. The contact page has the same form for the whole site.
- Privacy policy: new section explaining what feedback contains, where it is kept and when it is deleted.
- Small buttons and tick boxes are now easier to tap on phones.
Release 7.3 · 16 October 2026
Hide details before you share: Aadhaar masking, redact and blur
- Document scanner: when you check a page, you can now hide details before saving. Tick “This is an Aadhaar card or letter” and the scanner looks for the 12-digit number and masks the first 8 digits, so only the last 4 show, as in UIDAI’s masked Aadhaar. You check the result, and can drag a mask yourself if the number isn’t found.
- Black box, white-out, blur and pixelate: drag over anything else you don’t want to share, such as an account number, signature, face or QR code. A “for this purpose only” line can be written across the page.
- New tool, Redact and blur: the same tools for photos and PDFs you already have. Pages are saved as pictures, so hidden text is removed from the file, not just covered.
Release 7.2 · 16 October 2026
Document scanner, and smaller PDFs in one tap
- New document scanner: scan pages with your phone camera. It finds the page edges as you point the camera, straightens the page when you capture, and evens out shadows (clean colour, greyscale or black and white). Drag the corners to adjust the crop, zoom with the slider or by pinching, and switch the torch on where your phone’s browser allows it. Scan several pages and save them as one PDF or as JPGs. You can also use photos you already have. The camera picture never leaves your device.
- Every tool that makes a PDF now shows the file size on the download button. Under it, “Need it smaller?” fits the PDF under a size you choose, such as 100, 200 or 500 KB, and gives you the smaller copy to download.
- Privacy policy: new section on how the camera is used.
Release 7.1.1 · 14 October 2026
Choosing photos on phones
- Some phone galleries greyed out photos or the tool ignored them, because the photos came with no file type or an unusual one. Image tools now let you pick any photo, recognise JPG, PNG and WebP from the file itself, and explain what to do with HEIC photos (which browsers can’t open yet).
- A file is never refused just because copying it into the page took too long.
Release 7.1 · 14 October 2026
A warmer homepage
- The homepage now opens with a short welcome and a “What brings you here today?” section: six everyday situations (exam and job forms, running a shop, planning money, health, home and family, studying) with the tools for each, including the QR code for UPI payments. The full list follows under “All tools”.
- “SEO and marketing” is now called “Website and marketing tools”.
Release 7.0.1 · 14 October 2026
JPG to PDF fix on phones
- JPG to PDF could say “This image could not be opened” on phones when several photos or scans were added, even though their previews showed. All file tools now copy your files into the page as soon as you pick them (files from cloud apps can stop being readable a moment later), and JPG to PDF no longer decodes ordinary JPG and PNG files before adding them, which used a lot of memory. If one image still can’t be added, the message now says which one.
Release 7.0 · 14 October 2026
Play with the numbers, world standards, 18 new tools
- Every money calculator now has a slider under each amount, rate and time, a live growth chart you can scrub through, and a yellow note showing what a change would do (a 1% lower rate, 5 more years, a step-up). On phones the main result follows you at the bottom of the screen while you slide; on larger screens it stays in view.
- FD calculator: daily compounding added, and the chart compares compounding with simple interest. EMI calculator: switching between years and months converts the tenure.
- New money tools: compound interest (yearly to continuous, with monthly additions), simple interest (years, months and days), savings goal, inflation, CAGR, SWP, loan prepayment (shorter loan or lower EMI), retirement, Sukanya Samriddhi (8.2%), NPS (December 2025 exit rules) and post office schemes (NSC, KVP, SCSS, MIS, time deposits) at October–December 2026 rates. Every rate stays editable.
- BMI calculator: now uses the standard that matches your family background (WHO, WHO Asia-Pacific, India, China, Japan, Korea or NICE’s lower thresholds), lets you pick any of them, and shows your category under all seven side by side. Korean added as a background. The ideal weight calculator follows the same standards.
- New health tools: protein and macros (RDA and sports-nutrition ranges, checked against the recommended calorie split), ovulation and fertile window, one-rep max (Epley and Brzycki), and height comparison for up to six people you enter.
- New utilities: unit converter (including KB vs KiB), number to words (lakh and crore, million and billion, cheque wording) and image to Base64.
- About page: explains how the health tools are made and that they are not reviewed by a doctor.
Release 6.4 · 13 October 2026
Exam photo resizer: any size, any KB range
- Picture size can now be entered in pixels, cm, mm or inches, with a choice of 200, 300 or 600 DPI. The tool shows the pixel size it will make, and records the resolution in the file so it prints at the size entered.
- One-tap common sizes (such as 2 × 2 in, 3.5 × 4.5 cm and 200 × 230 px) and file-size ranges (such as 20–50 KB and up to 200 KB). Every value stays editable.
- A new “Aim for” slider chooses where in your KB range the file lands: smaller, or sharper. The file always stays inside the range.
- The tool now opens on “My own size”. Exam presets are still in the list.
Release 6.3 · 13 October 2026
A new look
- New Gauritanaya look: a round seal logo, a rubber-stamp violet colour, and Anek Latin, a typeface from the Indian type foundry Ek Type.
- The homepage now opens with a “Most used” list for quick access to the tools people need most often.
- Calculator answers are marked with a yellow highlight so the main result is easy to find.
- The site’s fonts are now served from our own domain instead of Google Fonts, so opening a page no longer contacts Google (except the biodata maker and Sign PDF, which still load Hindi and handwriting fonts). The privacy policy now explains this.
Release 6.2 · 13 October 2026
More fixes from the independent review
- Document makers: every maker was tested with very long names, addresses and notes, and with many item rows. Text no longer overlaps or runs off the page in receipts, rent receipts, salary slips, resumes and invoices. Fixed-size boxes (receipts) shorten text with “…” and tell you; dates and titles on the right of a line now share the space instead of overlapping. In the marriage biodata, a very long title now fits the page and nothing is drawn past the border.
- Invoice and quotation: if notes or terms run onto another page, the signature block now goes below them instead of on top of them.
- Heart rate zone calculator: if the resting heart rate entered is too close to or above the estimated maximum, the heart-rate-reserve target is no longer shown, and the page explains why.
- Running pace calculator: seconds of 60 or more are now flagged and give no result.
- Password generator: the strength shown is now exact. Passwords are drawn evenly from all allowed characters and redrawn if a chosen type is missing, and the bits of randomness count only passwords that contain every chosen type.
- Word counter: Chinese, Japanese and Thai text, which has no spaces, is now split into words using your browser’s language rules. Lone symbols such as “—” are no longer counted as words.
- Compress PDF: removed a general claim about how much smaller files get. The result always shows the actual before and after size.
- Homepage file handoff: if you drop a file on the homepage and leave before the tool opens, it is now deleted from your browser the next time you open any page here, once it is 10 minutes old.
Release 6.1 · 13 October 2026
Corrections after an independent review
- Age and date calculators: spans that start on a day missing from a later month (such as 31 January to 1 March) could show a negative number of days. Months are now counted forward from the start date, using the month’s last day when that day doesn’t exist, so no part is ever negative.
- EMI calculator: interest rates very close to zero could give a total below the loan amount. The formula now stays accurate at tiny rates, and tenure is limited to 50 years.
- JSON formatter: very large whole numbers (above 9,007,199,254,740,991) were rounded when formatting or minifying. Numbers and text are now kept exactly as typed.
- Colour converter: out-of-range values such as hsl(0, 200%, 50%) produced invalid colours. They are now rejected with a message.
- Blood pressure checker: readings logged for under-18s were labelled with adult categories in the log and CSV. They are now marked “Not classified (under 18)”, as on the main result.
- BMI calculator: the waist-to-height band was still shown when “I’m pregnant” was ticked. It is now withheld in pregnancy and under 18. The waist-to-height, waist-to-hip and body fat tools now also have the pregnancy option and withhold bands or estimates when it is ticked.
- Find and replace: regular expressions now run with a time limit, so a runaway pattern is stopped instead of freezing the page.
- Schema markup generator: text such as “</script>” typed into a field is now escaped, so the copied snippet can’t break the page it is pasted into.
- SIP, EMI and CGPA calculators: values outside each field’s allowed range are now flagged and no result is shown. Income tax calculator: legal limits on deductions (80C, 80D, home loan interest, NPS, professional tax, HRA) are applied and listed.
- Slug generator: Kannada, Hindi and other Indian-script slugs lost their vowel signs. They are now kept.
- Document makers: text too long for its space in the PDF is now shrunk or shortened with “…” and you are told, instead of overlapping other text. “Clear form” now also deletes the saved draft.
- Privacy policy: added a section listing exactly what each tool saves in your browser and how to delete it.
