Questions
Does it count Hindi and other Indian languages?
Yes. Words are counted by the spaces between them, so Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and other scripts are counted correctly. Chinese, Japanese and Thai, which are written without spaces, are split into words by your browser’s built-in language rules, so their counts are close but may differ slightly from other tools.
What counts as a character?
Each letter as you see it on screen counts once, even when it is built from several codes, such as a Hindi letter with a vowel sign or an emoji with a skin tone.
Are numbers and hyphenated words counted?
Yes. "2026" counts as one word, and a hyphenated term like "well-known" counts as one word.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type or paste leaves your device.
